OCIA

A new round of classes will begin in September 2025 and will be take place every Wednesday night from 7-8:30pm. If you are interested in becoming Catholic or learning more and would like to be contacted in the fall when classes begin, please fill out the form at the bottom of the page. Please do not expect a response until the fall semester has begun.

+ WHAT IS CHRISTIAN INITIATION?
The Order of Christian Initiation refers to the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist (Holy Communion) through which one becomes a full member of the Christian community. These sacraments are celebrated at the Easter Vigil or during the Easter season. The OCIA process is specific to those entering the Catholic Church.

+ WHAT IS INVOLVED IN OCIA?
The OCIA program consists of weekly meetings throughout the school year where questions about the Catholic Church, relationship with Jesus, issues of faith, church practices, etc. are discussed.

OCIA participants are encouraged to pray daily and to attend Mass on a regular basis. Preparation for the various rites that are celebrated as part of the RCIA process is also part of the program.

+ WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Any college student in the Lincoln area who is interested in joining or learning more about the Catholic Church is welcome at OCIA. This includes those who are unbaptized, baptized in another Christian Church, or baptized in the Catholic Church but have never received Eucharist or Confirmation. If you are not a current college student (undergrad, masters,  or doctorate), we are happy to help you get connected with a parish in Lincoln.

+ HOW DO I SIGN UP?
For the 2025-2026 school year, OCIA will take place on Wednesday nights from 7-8:30pm in Rosary Hall on the lower level of Newman. Please fill out the form below to be kept up to date with times and details as classes are closer to starting. You can contact the OCIA Coordinators here with any questions you may have.
