Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Lord is not holding out on you. He did not hold out on the Israelites, and yet He waited for the perfect time to fulfill His promises.

In reflecting on the story of Abraham and Isaac, we see that there continues to be no sacrifice that could be great enough for the mark of sin on our world. Here God says that He will provide the perfect sacrifice.

Jesus comes as the lamb and John sees Him and says, "Behold the Lamb of God." These words cut deep to the Jewish people knowing He is who God sent as the perfect sacrifice.

A simple prayer arises from our hearts.

Lord, I cannot do it, but you can and you promised.
