Third Sunday of Advent
This Sunday is a day to rejoice. In the repentant season where we make space for God, we are called to remember to rejoice in the Lord.
The Gospel displays a hidden joy through John the Baptist in prison. Through the eyes of the world, he is in the darkest place and the darkest hours of his life as he awaits his coming death. Yet for him, hearing what Jesus was doing and that He was God, he became the most free man.
In our lives, we all have prisons through our daily sufferings in mental health struggles, relationship issues, sickness and health issues, and on. Jesus wants to free us in these prisons in our lives. We pray that we too may receive the grace that John did to be free in the Lord and rejoice in Him. As the weary world rejoices at the coming of the Savior, may we too rejoice in our tiredness and be free to praise Jesus, our King and our God.
